Charles Donald ‘Don’ Wilkinson

Charles Donald “Don” Wilkinson, 86, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born in Pittsburgh, son of the late John Charles and Helen Martha (Perry) Wilkinson. On Feb. 14, 1996, he married Shirley L. Clapper in Vero Beach, Fla.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Linda M. (Edward) Donahoe and Lynn (David) Bendekovic; a son, Donald Lee (Karen) Wilkinson; two stepchildren: David (Sue) Johnson and Dean Johnson; eight grandchildren: Casey, Kirk, Bradley, Cory, Elena, Evelyn, Scott and Todd; two great-grandchildren: Julia and Eric; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Phyllis Pabst and Jane Callahan; and a brother, John “Jack” Wilkinson.
Don was a 1948 graduate of Swissvale High School, Pittsburgh. He retired as a foreman manager for AT&T. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altoona, and he enjoyed golf, tennis, fishing and traveling.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service, Thursday, April 20, 2017, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park, the Rev. Dr. Barry L. Folmar officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice House, 901 37th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960, or to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1401 12th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
